Three Generations Learning How To Hand Sew Their Mask

It was so sweet and fun to meet with the sisterhood of Temple Emanuel of the Pascack Valley, where three generations of ladies gathered via video to learn to hand-make face masks from their jeans. The challenge on our end was to come up with the simplest possible design that could be quickly cut and hand-sewn, protective, and still stylish. Denim seemed perfect for the trick. Denim, specifically medium weight and heavy weight denim, is the best bet for this task. It has a very tight weave that makes it very protective compared to other fabrics. It doesn't stretch (therefore the holes in the weave don't stretch either, again making it protective), it can be easily washed, and it leverages the hand-sewn, rugged look like no other fabric, whether this is your first hand-sewn mask or your 20th!
